Touristy Things in London

Are you a tourist planning to visit London? Here are some tourist hotspots I have written about on this blog in the past:
  • Museum of London explains what life in London has been like, from ancient times up until today. Everything is wonderfully presented and interactive. One of the best things about museums in London is that they are all free! Great places to hide away for a few hours when it's raining, or you have no money, or nowhere to go, or all three of those.

  • Natural History Museum in South Kensington -- beautiful old building on the outside, massive modern museum on the inside. Biggest draw: dinosaurs!

  • Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington is a museum of art and design. For the girls, there is a permanent collection of designer dresses. Besides that, you'll find all kind of beautiful things from all over the world. London really has the most stunning museums in the world, mostly because the British stole everythign everywhere and brought it home. When you go to the V&A, make sure you don't miss the museum café, it's a magical place. Order a pot of tea and enjoy the Englishness.

  • Kew Gardens: wonderful botanical gardens in West London. Great place to enjoy some nature, and massive. You could spend a whole day here -- bring a picnic with you, or visit one of their cafés. Spring is probably the best time to visit, when everything is blooming and blossoming.

  • Leadenhall Market in a beautiful covered market in the City of London, which is worth visiting for the architecture alone. Claim to fame: it featured in one of the Harry Potter films.

  • M&M's World is my new favourite tourist attraction in London. They opened in June 2011 in Leicester Square and it's the apparently largest candy store in the world. Four floors of M&M's entertainment! If you want somewhere bright and colourful to cheer you up, look no further.

  • Buddha Bar is a terrible place, but I am including it here because know there are some tourists who want to visit "every Buddha bar in the world", just as there are others who want to visit "every Hard Rock café". Each to their own.
